The Alexela Terminal meets the requirements of all applicable safety, environmental and professional health legal and administrative acts, together with those of the ISO 9001:2015 and 14001:2015 standards and the ISGOTT (International Safety Guide for Oil Tankers and Terminals) guideline.
Since 2002, the terminal has been certified according to the ISO 14001 environmental management standard quality standard, which guarantees a high level of ecological safety.
In 2006, we implemented a vapour recovery and burner disposal system for vapours generated during the loading process. An additional vapour handling system (VRU) is being built that will replace burning of the vapours with regenerating a liquid, reusable product out of them.
Every tank is equipped with an internal floating roof, which reduces evaporation by 95% compared to standard tanks. The tanks are located in a designated area with a waterproof floor and iron concrete walls. Rainwater falling on the territory of the terminal is purified through a special oil collector.
In the event of accidental leakage of fuel into the sea, we are able to contain the pollution area with beams. We have the capability for the quick and efficient elimination of spills. We are members of the global Oil Spill Response Limited (OSRL, www.oilspillresponse.com), an organisation that provides oil spill elimination. An autonomous fire extinguishing system has been installed into the terminal.
